Dear Chelsea,
I can't think of any one else in the world that I rather keep in touch with like this! I am loving the idea of letters. In the age of texting it will be refreshing to type out a well thought out message to you as well as to read yours! Have you read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society? It's a story told entirely by letters and it made me wish that our own stories were still told with paper and pen. To live in an age when you sat at a desk to write to the people you cared about sounds dreamy to me! I would love to have technologies permission to do that! But with the pace of our lives today I'm grateful to have my computer to assist me in speeding up the process.
I LOVE those shorts. Did you say where you found them? Would you care if I copied you and bought a pair? I'm a sucker for breezy pants and my last favorite pair were splashed with bleach. That was a sad day. I still think you should sieze the day and buy those boots. They are timeless. You could have them forever! Plus, you could always return them if the guilt becomes too much...or if they come and you don't like them.
Have you seen this adorable photo montage? Georgie and I both fell in love with the song, the little girl, Paris and, of course, the doll. Georgie has seen the montage at least 15 times. The doll was purchased here from textile artist Jess Brown. After checking out her collection of dolls for sale I have zero desire to buy Georgie an American Girl. They seem so plastic to me now! Does it shock you if I say that I think her dolls are worth the price? But that doesn't mean that I can afford one! I'll just copy hers! And I feel totally honest doing that because I couldn't BEGIN to make one as beautiful as hers and, of course, I'm not going to sell them (no one would buy mine;). If anything, I'll be sending her business! For some practice I decided to copy her bunnies first and pack them in the kids Easter baskets. Below is a picture of my first one. I like the way he turned out for the most part but I'm going to doctor the pattern a little as well as the embroidery on the face:
p.s. What is the Easter Bunny bringing to your kiddos? I can't wait to see how he spoils Mila!

I'm still trying to decide how best to put something around his neck. The best thing about these bunnies is that I didn't have to buy a dang thing to make them. It's made entirely of scraps. The body is made out a favorite pair of linen pants that ripped last summer, the ears from a scrap of Anna Maria Horner fabric and remnants of a wool sweater that I felted a few years ago. I'll post pictures of the other bunnies when I finish them....hopefully they'll be a little chubbier and their face will have more character!
xoxo

ReplyDeleteoh my goodness!!! I'm with Georgie - I could watch that photo montage about a million times - so cute! I think you'll have to do something similar with Georgie and her new friend, a video of their adventures! I was chastised the other day for not having any dolls for Mila! I love this one but you're right, out of my price range. But who needs a $180 doll when you can fashion something out of your own personal loved fabrics!?! Love that idea, and love you!!!
