I asked Ashlee to give me some decorating assignments. I LOVE to help with anything that involves shopping and design. One of her first requests was help with finding a writing desk and other furnishings for her study. She wants a sophisticated study with wing back chairs and beautiful wood. Here's what my research turned up, Ashlee. Happy Birthday!
A little inspiration to get you going!
This is the study of Markham Roberts, a designer from New York City,
featured in Domino Magazine over a year ago.
Minus the tiger print chair, Ashlee, what would you think of something like this?
This one is my personal favorite...today. Guess where I found this desk. You're going to be so surprised! Domino Magazine! This is the desk that sits in Mark Ruffalos house somewhere in southern California, of course. You can sneak a peak of his whole look on this website.
If you happen to have a large room for your desk and you're looking for something somewhat traditional, this is the desk for you. I can just see this table from Restoration Hardware paired with a sleek chair like this to modernize it:
A wingback chair would be beautiful too.
Check out the collection of chairs at Restoration Hardware...beautiful!
I found these two at Drexel Heritage.
This one for your traditional, almost cutesy side, and this one for your simple side.
And I do love the industrial look of this flatiron desk. The best thing about Industrial furniture is that you can dress it up or down, traditional or modern, minimalist or fancy. It will change right along with the trends as well as your own evolving tastes!
If you're wanting something a little bit more casual (and a little less demanding of your "benjamins"), always try West Elm, Ikea and CB2. Here are a few of my favorites:
The ever loved Parsons table.
Get it in white or in red but please...not in black!
West Elms newest desk, the 2 x 2
Ikea, are you trying to look like the Parsons desk?
Oh how I love your spin on it!
Longer, leaner, shinier...the changes become you!
With all this talk of writing desks, my thoughts have no where to go but to shelves. Glorious, glorious glamorous shelving! Here's a taste of where I might be heading next week:
Happy Birthday, Ashlee!
xoxo

YOU ARE SO CUTE! I give you a job and boy do you deliver! I love the 2x2, the "simple" one and the desk from restoration hardware. Now if only I had a lot of $$$$! I will definately add this to my wish list. Love you Ash. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteAsh...I'll look for some more like the simple one for cheaper prices. But this one is so perfect! I too love the Restoration Hardware one. It looks like one that you would love forever. Darn money!
ReplyDeleteI love the industrial table - I had wanted to get that once upon a dining room. Wouldn't it be fun to take metal shop class?!!! (from chels)
